What you will need
Here's the list of things you are going to need in order to be a merchant on MapleStory.
1. A shop permit from the CS (Cash Shop) Price: 1800NX. A must! If you do not have a shop you cannot become a merchant on Maple and I'll explain why later.
2. Starting money Price: 500k-20M is the best range to use. If you have more perfect.
3. Knowledge of the prices. A must, if you don't know the prices well then use popular sites such as basil market. Keep a window loaded up while your buying your goods to check back for a reference if your unsure of a price.
4. The patience it takes to get your merchant career off the ground. Don't expect to make a billion Meso in like 15 minutes unless your already pretty wealthy. If that's the case then 9 times our of 10 you already have enough knowledge to make your own money.
Once you feel you have accomplished these steps and purchased your shop permit we can move on to the next steps.
Getting Started
Now it's time to get out there and see what your made of. Once you have your shop permit and some Meso to spend it's time to head to the FM (Free Market) and do some shopping. This is where it get's important so listen up. A merchant is not a thief, con, trickster, scammer, spammer or any other thing we have been called in the book. We are simply people that have a greater knowledge of the prices and buy your items you so desperately need to sell for a bit cheaper then the original price. We don't try to make you believe your price is wrong, nor do we try to lie. We just simply tell you what we are willing to pay, some people except the price and move on, some don't.
This is the rules you will abide by. So head on into the FM and start buying some good items to profit from. We will cover some of the best things to make a profit from in Chapter 5: Hot Sellers.
The Do's and Do Nots
Wait! Before you spend that money let's talk about something important. There are many ways these days to really get scammed or even lose an item that you could have made a nice addition in your shop for a handsome profit. But you went ahead and jumped in to fast without knowing what to do and what NOT to do. Let's cover a few of these things really quick.
Some of the things you want to remember is, always be polite to your customer. If you make a trade with someone selling a piece that you really desire but he simply wont come down on the price where you want it then simply reply to him/her "nty" or "ty anyways" Sitting there arguing about the price or calling each other "Noobs" isn't helping you make any money faster and is just wasting time for both of you.
Never accept an offer unless you are 100% sure that the price is reasonable. People are silver tongues and can convince the UN-educated that something cost way more than what it really does. Don't fall for this attempt. Either study the prices on everything you know you will be dealing with or have a separate window opened on a website like Basil Market or so to keep an eye out on the prices.
Be sure that the item you are going to buy is wanted in the FM at the time. Just because you bought something that's worth 50M doesn't mean there is anyone wanting it right now. So make sure the items you decide to deal with are in demand!
